It is no surprise the creative duo are graduates of The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM). Zakiya received her AA Degree in fashion design, and Tashiba received hers in visual communications. ZMJ Denim, Inc., caters to the plus size Junior and Contemporary markets. Zakiya Jones

CEO/Designer Zakiya Jones is a young, full-figured woman who knows firsthand what the junior size market lacks. Growing up, she was forced to shop in clothing stores that catered to older women. “I HATED to shop. What teen wants to look like she’s 30! I already had a desire for fashion, constantly creating and changing my doll’s outfits. So I chose to become a fashion designer to shape the way young, curvier women view shopping. With ZMJ, I want to uplift and bring the curves to the forefront. Aren’t curves what makes a woman’s body beautiful? So embrace them!”

Tashiba Jones-Wilson

President/Designer Tashiba Jones-Wilson knew early on that fashion would influence her life. Her retail background took her from sales to being assistant manager and visual display coordinator, at Macy’s, Sears and specialty boutiques. Having worked alongside stylists for some of the biggest names in Hollywood on shows like “America’s Got Talent,” she considers working with family the most rewarding. “I want the ZMJ Denim brand to become a household name.”
